Hosokawa Gracia and the Spirit of HAKONE AI

My family has a long-standing, quiet tradition that our lineage traces back to Hosokawa Gracia, a woman who survived the harsh times of the Sengoku period (Warring States period).

This is not an official genealogical record.

Formal records have been tossed about by the waves of history and no longer exist.

Standing before a historical record detailing the life and pride of Hosokawa Gracia, the daughter after whom HAKONE AI is named.

I share this as a quiet source of family memory, spiritual lineage, and a philosophy of love for Hakone.

A tranquil mausoleum and historical five-tiered pagoda dedicated to the soul of Hosokawa Gracia.

*The references to Hosokawa Gracia in this project do not claim to be objective evidence (facts) such as official genealogical records that have been lost due to historical circumstances. Rather, they represent the "oral tradition" that has been quietly preserved and passed down only within the family through harsh times, and the "spiritual inheritance" associated with it.

An old family photograph of the Hosokawa family, who survived through times of war and have passed down their oral traditions and spiritual lineage to the present day.

Gracia Hosokawa is remembered as a woman who, even under overwhelming pressure, never relinquished her dignity, silence, faith, and inner freedom.

We live in a different era.

Today's children are not surrounded by the flames of the Warring States period.

However, many families are now subjected to a different kind of pressure: endless scrolling, constant notifications, and digital systems designed to keep attention without natural breaks.

In such an environment, protecting a child's attention, conversational skills, and inner freedom becomes increasingly difficult.

HAKONE AI was not developed as an app for monitoring, forceful blocking, or parental control.

We believe that you cannot force children to stop.

HAKONE AI is a bespoke, private AI service that helps families gradually break free from endless scrolling by creating home habits.

Through consciously using "finger touch" for short periods, and through parent-child conversations and the rhythm of family life, HAKONE AI helps families develop calmer screen time habits.

The goal is not to take away devices.

The goal is for children to practice pausing, stepping away, and returning to real conversations within the warmth of family.

For me, HAKONE AI is more than just a technology project.

It is an attempt to quietly carry on the spirit of inner freedom into the digital age.

The freedom once protected by silence, dignity, and faith must now be protected in new places:

Within the home,

In parent-child conversations,

And in those small moments when a finger stops scrolling.

This is the spirit of HAKONE AI.

Note: References to Gracia Hosokawa are not based on official genealogical records, but on family oral tradition. They are included here as part of the founder's personal and spiritual background.

Standing before the monument to "Lady Gracia's water basin," the daughter, Hakone, quietly clasps her hands together in prayer.
