TERMS & LEGAL NOTICES

Last updated: July 29, 2026

These Terms & Legal Notices apply to HAKONE AI, a private AI and digital-wellbeing service for adults operated by Synapse Cascade Gomei Kaisha in Japan.

HAKONE AI is designed exclusively for users aged 18 and over.

By accessing this website, submitting a Private Assessment request, purchasing or accessing a HAKONE AI service, or otherwise using HAKONE AI, you agree to use the service responsibly and in accordance with these terms.

1. SERVICE OVERVIEW

HAKONE AI is a Japan-born private AI service designed for adult digital independence.

The service is built to help users develop a more deliberate relationship with smartphones and digital environments through tools and experiences including structured pauses, Yubizen, reflection, digital-wellbeing routines, and individually configured AI support.

HAKONE AI is not designed to take control of a user’s smartphone.

It is not a restriction app.

It is not a surveillance tool.

It is not a medical, therapeutic, diagnostic, or emergency-response service.

HAKONE provides tools, interfaces, prompts, routines, reflection support, and other digital-wellbeing functions intended to help adult users pause, reconsider, and make their own next choice.

HAKONE supports human decision-making.
It does not replace it.

2. INTENDED USERS

HAKONE AI is intended exclusively for adults aged 18 and over.

The service is built around adult self-determination and individual responsibility.

HAKONE AI is not intended for children or minors.

There is no parental-control model, guardian-supervision model, or child-monitoring model within the adult service.

Each user is responsible for deciding whether HAKONE AI is appropriate for their own circumstances and for how they use the service in their daily life.

The user remains the final decision-maker regarding their smartphone use, digital routines, goals, choices, and real-world actions.

3. PRIVATE ASSESSMENT

HAKONE AI may begin with a Private Assessment request.

The purpose of the Private Assessment is to understand the applicant’s intended use, digital-wellbeing goals, relevant routines, preferences, and other information needed to determine whether and how HAKONE AI may be appropriately configured.

The Private Assessment is not a medical examination.

It is not a psychological diagnosis.

It is not an emergency assessment.

Submitting a Private Assessment request does not automatically create a service agreement or guarantee that HAKONE AI will be offered or configured in every case.

Service availability may depend on the intended use, operational capacity, technical compatibility, safety considerations, and other relevant circumstances.

4. CLEAR NON-MEDICAL BOUNDARY

HAKONE AI is a digital-wellbeing and digital self-regulation support service.

It does not diagnose, treat, cure, prevent, or predict diseases, disorders, mental health conditions, or other medical outcomes.

HAKONE AI does not provide medical treatment, psychotherapy, clinical diagnosis, crisis intervention, or emergency-response services.

Its role is different.

HAKONE focuses on the relationship between the user and digital technology:

pausing,

reflecting,

making deliberate choices,

and maintaining human control over digital behavior.

Where medical, psychological, legal, safety, or emergency assistance is required, users should seek the appropriate qualified professional or local service.

A responsible AI system must understand where its role ends.

5. SERVICE SCOPE AND INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCE

HAKONE AI provides a designed process for digital self-regulation.

This may include structured pauses, interfaces, routines, reflection tools, AI-generated support, and opportunities to reconsider what to do next.

People use smartphones differently.

Their environments, routines, goals, and experiences are also different.

For that reason, individual experiences with HAKONE will naturally vary.

HAKONE focuses on providing the user with carefully designed tools and opportunities for deliberate choice rather than prescribing one predetermined outcome.

HAKONE creates the space to pause.
The next decision remains yours.

6. RESPONSIBLE USE OF AI

HAKONE AI may use artificial intelligence to provide prompts, explanations, summaries, reflection support, structured routines, or other service functions.

AI-generated information should be understood as supportive output rather than automatic final judgment.

Artificial intelligence can make mistakes.

For this reason, HAKONE is designed around boundaries concerning what AI should decide, where human judgment remains necessary, and how users should understand AI-generated information.

Users should consider AI output in the context of their own circumstances and make their own final decisions.

The objective of HAKONE is not maximum automation.

The objective is:

responsible AI under human control.

7. PRIVACY AND DATA MINIMIZATION

HAKONE AI is designed around privacy-conscious operation and data minimization.

We aim to collect only information reasonably necessary to configure, operate, support, protect, and improve the service experience.

Depending on the functions selected, this may include information such as:

account and contact information,

country or region,

digital-wellbeing goals,

selected user inputs,

relevant usage information,

service preferences,

and communication preferences.

We do not begin with the assumption that collecting more personal information automatically creates better AI.

Instead, we ask:

What information is actually necessary for this service?

Users should avoid submitting unnecessary sensitive information.

Our policy is not to sell personal information as a business model or use HAKONE user information for the purpose of training general-purpose AI models.

Where third-party infrastructure or service providers are necessary to operate HAKONE, information may be processed only to the extent required for the relevant service function and subject to applicable privacy and service arrangements.

Further information about data handling, storage, security practices, retention, third-party infrastructure, and user rights is provided in our Privacy Policy and related service documents.

8. NO SECRET SURVEILLANCE

HAKONE AI is not designed to secretly watch, police, or track users.

It is not spyware.

It is not a hidden monitoring system.

HAKONE operates through information knowingly provided by the user and information necessary for the functions the user chooses to use.

The purpose is not to catch a person doing something wrong.

The purpose is to provide an environment in which users can better understand and reshape their relationship with digital technology while retaining control over their own decisions.

Behavioral surveillance is not the purpose of HAKONE.
Human autonomy is.

9. SUBSCRIPTIONS, PAYMENTS, CANCELLATION, AND REFUNDS

Certain HAKONE AI services may be offered through paid subscriptions, setup services, Private Assessment processes, or other paid service options.

Prices, billing periods, payment methods, renewal conditions, and the contents of each plan will be presented at the time of application or purchase.

Users are responsible for reviewing those details before completing payment.

Where a subscription renews automatically, the applicable renewal terms and available cancellation method will be presented as part of the purchase or service conditions.

Cancellation and refund conditions may vary depending on the service selected, the stage of service delivery, the payment provider, and the terms presented at the time of purchase.

Any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law remain unaffected.

For questions concerning payments, subscriptions, cancellation, or refunds, please contact:

contact@personal-shaman.com

10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Unless otherwise stated, the website, HAKONE AI service, software, text, visual designs, illustrations, service explanations, original frameworks, interface concepts, names, and other proprietary materials are owned by or licensed to Synapse Cascade Gomei Kaisha.

This includes HAKONE AI, Yubizen, original digital-wellbeing concepts and terminology, visual materials, page designs, and related service content.

Access to the website or service does not transfer ownership of these materials to the user.

Except where permitted by applicable law, users may not reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, commercially exploit, or create unauthorized derivative uses of proprietary HAKONE materials without prior permission.

11. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

HAKONE AI may use third-party technologies or service providers where necessary to operate particular functions.

These may include:

payment services,

website infrastructure,

cloud infrastructure,

AI infrastructure,

communication services,

analytics or operational tools,

and other technical providers.

Third-party providers may operate under their own terms, privacy policies, and service conditions.

Synapse Cascade Gomei Kaisha is responsible for the HAKONE AI service itself, but cannot control every aspect of an independent third-party service.

Where third-party services are used, HAKONE aims to select and operate them in a manner consistent with the privacy, safety, and data-minimization principles of the service.

12. WEBSITE AND SERVICE INFORMATION

We aim to present HAKONE AI clearly and accurately.

However, HAKONE is an evolving technology service.

Website content, functionality, service descriptions, interfaces, policies, and other materials may therefore be corrected, updated, revised, expanded, or removed as the system develops.

Information provided on this website should be understood in the context of the version of HAKONE available at that time.

Material changes affecting contractual rights or important privacy practices will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the relevant service terms.

13. RESPONSIBLE USE

Users are expected to use HAKONE AI lawfully and responsibly.

Users must not attempt to misuse, interfere with, damage, reverse engineer, circumvent security controls, obtain unauthorized access to, or disrupt the website or service.

Users must not use HAKONE AI in a way that infringes the rights of another person or violates applicable law.

HAKONE is designed to support individual digital self-regulation.

It is not intended to be used to control, secretly monitor, manipulate, or make decisions on behalf of another person.

14. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

HAKONE is designed and operated with attention to safety, privacy, human oversight, and responsible AI use.

At the same time, digital services depend on software, networks, devices, third-party infrastructure, and other systems that may occasionally experience interruptions, errors, or unexpected conditions.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Synapse Cascade Gomei Kaisha will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the website or service.

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or limit any liability or legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Users remain responsible for their own decisions and for how they apply information or suggestions provided through HAKONE AI.

15. SERVICE AVAILABILITY AND DEVELOPMENT

HAKONE AI is an actively developed service.

Features may be introduced, modified, improved, temporarily suspended, replaced, or discontinued as the technology and service evolve.

Maintenance, security work, infrastructure changes, technical problems, legal requirements, or operational decisions may occasionally affect availability.

We aim to operate HAKONE responsibly and reliably, but continuous uninterrupted availability cannot always be ensured.

Where possible, significant service changes will be communicated appropriately.

16. ACCOUNTABILITY AND HUMAN CONTROL

HAKONE is built on a simple principle:

AI is the tool.
The human being remains responsible for the final choice.

HAKONE may assist.

It may explain.

It may create structure.

It may create a pause.

It may present another perspective.

But it is not designed to take authority away from the person using it.

Safety, privacy, data minimization, transparency, responsible AI operation, and human oversight are therefore treated as core parts of the service architecture.

17. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms & Legal Notices are governed by the laws of Japan, except where mandatory laws applicable to a user require otherwise.

Any dispute relating to this website or HAKONE AI will be handled in accordance with applicable legal procedures.

Nothing in these terms is intended to remove consumer rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

Drawing on expertise across the disciplines of law, systems engineering, and biology, he has conducted research in digital science for a decade—since 2014—based on empirical data from 1,500 families. He leads the design of "HAKONE," a practical infrastructure that enables human agency to remain central while fostering coexistence with the commercial algorithms of major platforms—advancing them rather than seeking their exclusion or legal restriction. He also spearheads proposals to fill the "policy gap" regarding digital autonomy for adults.

This system is not a service that provides medical care, treatment, diagnosis, or emergency response. HAKONE AI does not diagnose, treat, prevent, or predict any diseases, disorders, or mental health conditions.

Our goal is to help users establish calm screen-time habits and maintain control and autonomy over their digital devices within the commercial algorithmic environments of major platforms.

HAKONE AI is designed based on principles of digital public health, privacy protection, responsible AI, data minimization, transparency, and "human oversight." These principles align with international discussions and guidelines regarding adult self-determination, AI governance, and privacy protection.

This system is designed and operated for use by adults aged 18 and older who possess the right to self-determination.
